Bridge barrier construction and guardrail replacement continue next week on westbound Interstate 10 near Texas Canyon

The Arizona Department of Transportation will continue work on westbound Interstate 10 in Cochise County next week in preparation for repaving a 14-mile segment between the east end of Texas Canyon and the east side of Benson.

Crews will continue constructing a new bridge barrier wall at Adams Peak Wash, requiring daily right lane closures on westbound I-10 Monday, July 23 through Friday, July 27. Adams Peak Wash is located between mileposts 309 and 310 west of Texas Canyon.

Guardrail replacement on the western slope of Texas Canyon will require progressive right lane closures on westbound I-10 from milepost 317 to milepost 311. Those closures will be in effect daily from Monday, July 23 through Thursday, July 26. The closure area will be up to three miles long and will move as the work progresses.

In both areas, posted speed limits will be 55 mph and message boards will notify motorists of the restrictions in advance.

The work also includes repairs at the westbound rest area in Texas Canyon, which will remain closed until September. Repaving work is scheduled to begin after the Labor Day weekend.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
